Lithuania Jonas Filmanavičius – dr, leader
This band was formed by drummer Jonas Filmanavičius over two years ago. Its core consists of well-known musicians who have competed on numerous occasions with various bands in the VJYP finals. The Moving previously took part in the competition in 2024, and this year they have returned with a revamped line-up and a larger band. In the finals, the ensemble will perform the collective composition The Planet. Jonas Filmanavičius’ introduction to jazz came about with Made in 234 group at the Balys Dvarionas Music School. The band won the main prize at the VJYP competition in 2014. Jonas went on to study at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen (the Netherlands). Many know him as a member of the alternative music group SHOWER. He also collaborates with other groups and Lithuanian musicians across various genres, arranges music, and leads masterclasses for young performers. Keyboardist Artūras Daunys was also a member of Made in 234, a brilliant quintet from Balys Dvarionas Music School. He has enjoyed success on both the jazz and classical music scenes, garnered awards at national and international competitions, and has been performing extensively in Lithuania and abroad. Today, Artūras is involved in projects of his former classmates Karolis Šarkus and Jonas Filmanavičius, collaborates with the groups KJ Collective, Nika Ganga and others, manoeuvres his creative work through various musical genres. Adomas Silevičius completed his Master’s degree in jazz guitar at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LAMT) and has gained extensive concert experience playing music across a range of genres and styles. He has performed at the Birštonas Jazz, Vilnius Jazz and other festivals in Lithuania, as well as Summer Sound, Saulkrasti Jazz and Škiuna džezs in Latvia. Trumpeter Domas Kazlas is a qualified IT engineer and an active figure on the alternative music scene. He is best known as a member of the band Šuo Leila. In 2019, this band won the Garažas competition for young bands. Dainius also works with the groups Grūviai, Vilnius Funk Collective, Galèra, the Vilnius University wind orchestra Oktava and the Molėtai Big Band, and assists various Lithuanian performers in concerts and recording studio. Davit Avetisyan is a composer and saxophonist of Armenian origin living in Lithuania. He earned his Master’s degree from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and has won awards in various competitions, including first prize in Petras Vyšniauskas’ National Saxophone Competition (2022). Davit performs regularly with his own progressive jazz ensemble, 21st Century Quintet, as well as other groups. Alongside various musical partners, he has performed at Lithuania’s leading jazz festivals, toured Norway and Moldova, and has been a finalist in the VJYP competition on several occasions. Saxophonist Artiom Zalizko has been returning to Kaunas Jazz, Vilnius Jazz, Vilnius Mama Jazz and Loftas Fest for many years in a row. Since his study years at the Vilnius Conservatoire and the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, he has been an active figure on the jazz and alternative music scenes. In 2018, Artiom won a special prize at the VJYP competition for the best original composition and was named “Discovery of the Competition”, whilst this year he has been voted the competition’s best instrumentalist. Currently, in addition to The Moving, the saxophonist plays in the progressive music groups KZK on TV and SynthEtika, and teaches at the GSG music studio. Even though, Paulius Balčytis studied classical trombone, he plays a wide-ranging repertoire from Baroque to experimental jazz, punk, pop and electroacoustic music. He also composes instrumental music, original songs and audiovisual performances. As a member of the band Oficialūs Kaimo Kliedesiai, he won an award for an original composition at the VJYP competition last year. Double bassist Aistis Kondratas graduated from the Prince Claus Conservatoire in the Netherlands and is successfully pursuing a professional music career in Lithuania. He takes part in contemporary jazz, swing and experimental music projects, and collaborates with musicians from a variety of genres. |
