Lithuania Adomas Silevičius – g The musicians of variegated experience were brought together six months ago by drummer Jonas Filmanavičius. All the members of Moving are actively involved in Lithuania’s jazz scene, playing music of different styles and genres. In the finals of the VJYP competition, the group will perform the leader’s composition The Mountains. Adomas Silevičius became interested in the guitar after graduating from the Vilnius Balys Dvarionas Music School. He learned to play the guitar privately, with different teachers. Later, he continued his studies at Vilnius University of Applied Sciences, and currently he is seeking a Master’s degree in jazz guitar at the LAMT. The guitarist has accumulated extensive concert experience playing music of various genres and styles, participated in Birštonas Jazz and Vilnius Jazz festivals in Lithuania, Summer Sound, Saulkrasti Jazz and Škiuna Jazz in Latvia, regularly performs at cultural events in Vilnius, and teaches at the art studio Žaismas. Keyboardist Artūras Daunys is a member of the spirited Balys Dvarionas Music School’s five-member Made in 234, which shone like a meteor on the Lithuanian jazz scene ten years ago, having toured Lithuania’s most important jazz festivals. In 2014, the group won the main prize of the Vilnius Jazz Young Power competition, and in 2015, four of its members, including A. Daunys and J. Filmanavičius, competed in the VJYP finals with Gone4Square. Artūras has continued to enjoy success in both the jazz and academic music scenes. He has won prizes in national and international competitions, and performed extensively in Lithuania and abroad. Today, the keyboardist can be heard in a wide range of projects, including those of his former schoolmates Karolis Šarkus and J. Filmanavičius, the groups KJ Collective and Nika Ganga, which combine jazz, funk, R&B, and soul in their work. Saxophonist Gabrielius Gribauskas has also gained considerable competition experience. He is a prize winner of J.Pakalnis Young Performers Competition, has won several prizes at the international competition-festival Jazz Fontanas with the Pasvalys Music School Big Band, where he later captured the Grand Prix with Jazzadelics group. Gabrielius combines his individual concert activities with his studies at the Jazz Department of the LAMT and playing in the LAMT Big Band. Artiom Zalizko began his saxophone studies at the Karoliniškės Music School in Vilnius, and later continued his education at the Vilnius Conservatoire and the LAMT, where he studied under Jan Maksimowicz. Artiom is a long-time participant of Kaunas Jazz, Vilnius Jazz and Loftas Fest. He is currently a member of KZK on TV and SynthEtika, and a teacher at the GSG Music Studio. The saxophonist has already participated in the VJYP in 2018 with Noctus Post-Kelpshality and was named “Discovery of the Competition”, winning a special prize for the best original composition, although his group did not make it to the finals. Deividas Skridaila graduated from Mosėdis Secondary School and Skuodas Art School, studied bass guitar at the Klaipėda Faculty of the LAMT. The bassist has taken part in the projects of the Lithuanian Youth Jazz Orchestra, collaborates with other groups. In 2021, he competed in the VJYP finals with Kontrazztas. Jonas Filmanavičius’ springboard into jazz was Balys Dvarionas Music School’s group Made in 234, trained by jazz luminary Vytautas Labutis. Later, Jonas had the opportunity to study with such jazz coryphées as Greg Hutchinson, Joey Baron, Mike Clark, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Steve Altenberg, Ron Savage, Danny Grissett and Billy Hart with whom he honed his skills while at the Prince Klaus Conservatoire in Groningen (the Netherlands). Today, the drummer actively performs with groups playing a wide range of music, from jazz to electronic, and is the drummer of Shower. He has performed with various bands in the Netherlands, USA, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Serbia. Jonas also gives masterclasses for jazz performers and teachers. |
