Lithuania Andrius Savčenko – p ![]() The group brings together three very active members of Lithuania’s jazz scene. Formed only a year ago, the trio has already performed at Vilnius Mama Jazz, Kretinga International Jazz Festival and toured Germany. Duck Saved Jones was voted the best jazz standard interpreter in this competition, as well as earned recognition for its outstanding ensemble skills. In the finals, the trio will perform the original composition This is Europe. Pianist and composer Andrius Savčenko graduated this year in jazz piano from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where he studied under Professor Artūras Anusauskas. He also honed his skills in the Netherlands with Karel Boehlee (the Netherlands), Xavi Torres (Spain), Michael Moore (USA) and Harmen Fraanje (the Netherlands). The musician has won several competitions. He is a member of Leonid Shinkarenko’s groups and the 21 Century Quintet, and has toured with these groups in Spain (Canarias Jazz), the Netherlands (Amersfoort Jazz), Moldova (Jazz’n Chișinău) and Norway (Trondheim Jazz Fest). Andrius also collaborates with Vilnius JJazz Ensemble, KJ Collective, Adriano Trindade and other performers. In 2021, Savčenko has earned recognition in the VJYP competition with the 21 Century Quintet. He also participates in other creative projects, is interested in the sung poetry and contemporary music. Bassist Artūrs Duckis was born and started his career in Latvia and is currently seeking the Master’s degree at the LAMT. Since 2019, he has been a frequent stage partner of many well-known jazz and pop musicians, including Dmitrij Golovanov, Liudas Mockūnas, Jievaras Jasinskis, Kęstutis Vaiginis, Arkady Gotesman, Dainius Pulauskas, Jan Maksimowicz, Egidijus Buožis, Pranas Kentra, Karolis Šarkus, Kotryna Juodzevičiūtė, Monika Liu, Linas Adomaitis, Adriano Trindade, Ramiro Olaciregui, Jesús Santandreu. He is a member of Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble, KJ Collective, Veronika ChiChi Quintet, No Name Jazz Fellas, 21st Century Quintet and Linas Adomaitis’ band. He has appeared at numerous international jazz festivals, including Jazz’n Chișinău, Kaunas Jazz, Vilnius Jazz, Vilnius Mama Jazz, Klaipėda Castle Jazz Festival, Kretinga Jazz Festival, Elektrėnai Jazz and Blues Festival. Dovydas Jonas Šulskis started his musical career at the Kretinga Art School, and later graduated from the LAMT where he was educated by jazz master percussionist Arkady Gotesman. According to Dovydas, he is inspired by the fusion of modern jazz and hip-hop music, which opens a world of original sonorities. Last year, the drummer won first prize in the DrumDay competition. He takes part in Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble, The Schwings Band, Basement Jazz Crew, The Outsiders, Neris Jazz Sextet, and has performed with various ensembles at the international festivals in Kaunas, Kretinga as well as Vilnius Mama Jazz among others, and has toured Sweden and Germany. The drummer has collaborated with renowned jazz artists D. Golovanov, Domas Žeromskas, Pavel Arakelian, appeared on the pop scene with Erica Jennings and SKAMP, Kazimieras Likša, L. Adomaitis, Dominykas Vaitiekūnas, Jonas Narbutas. |
