What do the world of pipes and improvised music have in common? The group Kanalizacija, which has been active for a year and a half, enjoying diving through the channels of improvisations, successfully proves: the principles of plumbing are valid on the stage as well!

Kanalizacija’s music hardly obeys any classification – it is an amalgam of the energy of experimental rock and heavy metal, echoes of academic and country music, and free jazz passages.

Together with various partners the LAMT graduates have taken part in all major jazz festivals in Lithuania as well as in Operomanija, Druskomanija, Sacrum Profanum, Raseiniai Contemporary Music Festival and other events.

Last year, the band appeared as a trio in the VJYP competition, where it became the winner and earned a nomination in the category of the best interpretation of the jazz standard. After this competition, saxophonist Danielius Pancerovas joined the trio.

The band is currently recording their debut album, which will be released later this year.

Dominykas Norkūnas started his music studies at the Ąžuoliukas School of Music, later continued his education in the Rhythmic Music Department at the University of Applied Sciences, as an “Erasmus” student he honed his skills at the Royal Academy of Music in Aalborg (Denmark).

In 2018, the guitarist graduated from the LAMT, where he earned Master Degree in contemporary music and free improvisation. In the same year, with Mantvydas Pranulis’ trio Parxess600 he became the finalist of the VJYP competition, and last year, in addition to the Grand Prix, he also won the best instrumentalist award.

Dominykas plays in various formations of improvised music, free jazz, funk and noise music, takes part in various festivals and collaborates with actors.

Danielius Pancerovas got involved with jazz while at the Stasys Šimkus Conservatoire in Klaipėda. However, since the school does not offer jazz studies he studied independently. During his study years he played in Klaipėda jazz orchestra.
Later he honed his jazz skills at the LAMT, where together with schoolmates he formed Katarsis4 saxophone quartet, also became a member of The Septet and Džiazlaif.

In 2017, with Džiazlaif Danielius won the Grand Prix of the VJYP competition and a special prize for the best original composition, and a year later he recorded his debut album in United Kingdom.

He has appeared with various ensembles at all jazz festivals in Lithuania, and has also performed with Džiazlaif in Latvia, Berlin, Leipzig and other German cities.

After graduating from Balys Dvarionas Music School Simonas Kaupinis entered the LAMT as the tuba student. As an exchange student he refined his skills in Gioachino Rossini Conservatoire in Italy. Last year, he earned Master Degree in contemporary music and improvisation from the LAMT.

The tuba player plays in various ensembles of free improvised music, collaborates in projects with composers, and takes part in jazz and academic music festivals in Lithuania and abroad.

Ignas Kasikauskas has graduated from the Jazz Department at the LAMT. In addition, the drummer has taken part in master courses in Italy, Denmark and Finland.

Ignas is at home in a wide range of music – from pop- to free jazz. He has collaborated with many a renowned jazz performer including Arkady Gotesman, Eugenijus Kanevičius, Tomas Razmus and Arnas Mikalkėnas. He has appeared in Vilnius Mama Jazz, Kaunas Jazz, Peronas Jazz, Saulkrasti Jazz Festival and Roma Summer Jazz Festival, toured in Italy, Germany, Slovakia, Austria, Russia and other countries.

In 2017, as a member of Džiazlaif the drummer won Grand Prix of the VJYP competition. In 2018, with Mantvydas Pranulis trio Parxess600 he reached the finals of the VJYP, and in last year’s final round competed with two groups – I’m Out and Kanalizacija.
