Lithuania Matas Ričkus - g
The students of the University of Applied Sciences formed this group for a special purpose of participating in this competition. They are just making their first steps on jazz scene and testing their potentials in various formations. The members of the group have already made appearances in Birštonas Jazz and Galapagai festivals, performed in Jazz Cellar club in Vilnius and Summer Terrace series. This quartet has no leader. For the competition finals the group will offer collective composition When You Get Outside in Childhood, You Have Fun on Your Own As Well. Matas Ričkus studied saxophone at the music school and guitar at Saulius Sondeckis Gymnasium of Arts in Šiauliai. Currently, he furthers guitar studies at the University of Applied Sciences. The appearance in the VJYP competition is one of his official try-outs. Lukas Pocius graduated from Stasys Šimkus Conservatoire in Klaipėda, where he studied classical clarinet. Currently, he studies saxophone in the Department of Arts and Creative Technologies at the University of Applied Sciences. For him the project in the VJYP is also one of his first true challenges. Vainius Indriūnas currently studies in the Department of Arts and Creative Technologies at the University of Applied Sciences. This year he was voted the best bassist at the Gitarų šėlsmas competition; claimed the first and the second prizes at the Novus 19 competition, where he appeared with “Juzt” and “John’s Shower Band”. Martynas Stoškus has studied at Stasys Šimkus Conservatoire in Klaipėda, later continuing in the Department of Arts and Creative Technologies at the University of Applied Sciences in Vilnius from which he earned Bachelor Degree. He has worked in “Ethnic Waves”, “Phrenetix”, “String of Earth” and “Bete Smate”, appeared in Kaunas Jazz, Birštonas Jazz and Devilstone 2019 festivals. |
