The group formed less than a year ago. Seeking to realize their potentials, experience new ideas and exhibit their unique approach to music the musicians got ready for the competition independently.
And they were successful: the group’s interpretation of The Art Ensemble of Chicago’s theme DeYoyo garnered a special prize. For Vilnius Jazz Young Power the Quartet also bring Richardas Banys’ composition Letter for You on the text by Gina Kazlauskaitė.
Richardas Banys started studying the piano and composition independently in Šiauliai. Later he continued in Šiauliai Conservatoire. Upon entering the Vilnius College where he became a student of the Popular Music Department, the pianist
Richardas is a winner of the Jazz Fountain in 2005 and 2006. This year he appeared in Vladimir Chekasin’s project in Birštonas Jazz 2014.
Gina Kazlauskaitė studied the flute at the music school in her native Panevėžys, later she has graduated as a jazz vocalist from the Vilnius College. The singer is a winner of Jazz Voices international jazz vocal competition in Klaipėda as well as Riga Jazz Stage international competition in Riga.
Bassist Ernest Germanovič has graduated from the Vilnius Conservatoire. Currently he studies in the Popular Music Department of the Vilnius College.
The bassist has performed with Liūdni Slibinai, Jazz Brothers, Da’Frontin, M.P Quintet, The Jam Fam, Joy Spring Quintet, The Magic Time Big Band and gospel choir Joy, collaborated with Pinigai.
The musician participated in a number of international festivals including Kaunas Jazz, Birštonas 2014, Tamsta, Jazz Fountain, Rainbow Jazz in Estonia, Bad Bramstedt Jazz in Germany and RUM in Sweden.
Drummer Aleksandras Rogoža combines his studies at the Vilnius College with an active concert schedule. The performer takes part in various projects, plays in several groups. He has toured in Germany, France, Hungary, Romania, Czech Republic and other European countries.
