France Emile Parisien - sax ![]() This French jazz group is the sensation of the festivals and jazz clubs. Choleric temperament, sparkly musicians disarm the audiences without any stage tricks – furious musical conversations, which pin down and hold the attention from the very first to the last bar – now get hysterically hot then calm down and then again burst with foaming piano and saxophone passages. According to the critics, the Quartet’s music emerges from the intense exploration of familiar musical trends – that of John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Steve Lacy, Ornette Coleman, Cecil Taylor but also Hector Berlioz, Igor Stravinsky and Arnold Schoenberg and even contemporary punk. The music they make is so spontaneous and arresting, and their intercommunication is so telepathic that it is not possible to prescribe their music to any category. It seems, Emile Parisien has inherited the knowledge of his forefathers. No wonder, that saxophone expert is titled genius. Currently, he is on a high tide – he draws together the leading and most promising French musicians. In 2009, he received the Revelation Prize at the French Jazz Award Ceremony, and in 2013 and 2014 he was ranked the Best Jazz Musician of the Year – was awarded Prix Django Reinhardt (Académie du jazz) and the French Jazz Award (Victoires du Jazz). Thus, the Festival closes with yet one more climax. |
