La Campagnie des Musiques à Ouïr (France):
Denis Charolles - drums, percussions, voice, trombone, etc..
This surprisingly witty company juggles a variety of music styles, takes pleasure in playing on various sounding objects. Regardless of what these fellows play, the audience willingly gets carried away by their cheerful spectacles. Denis Charolles, the old-timer and soul of the group, is a percussion and reed virtuoso as well as an inventive improviser. He is in demand in numerous French madcap projects – Charolles works with a number of groups. His musical vocabulary combines elements of popular French music, folklore, and free jazz. He has collaborated with scores of distinguished improvisers including Marc Ducret, a French guitarist well known in Lithuania. Saxophonist, composer and arranger Fred Gastard partakes in many projects as a composer and improviser such as Melosolex, Le Sacre Du Tympan, and Sylvain Bardiau’s Journal Intime. He composes music for theatre, collaborates with singers, and plays in Montagne trio. He has enjoyed musical exchange with Django Bates, Michel Portal, Marc Ducret, Sanseverino and other renowned musicians. Julien Eil deepens the colleagues’ improvisations with his saxophone and clarinet. On this tour the trio shares the stage with an old friend – trumpeter Sylvain Bardiau. His creative horizons are immense – he is at home in jazz and funk, salsa and reggae, electro-acoustic and popular music. He embellishes the possibilities of his instruments (also plays tuba and flugelhorn) with electronics. A sought-after partner who is appreciated both onstage and on record, Bardiau also works in parallel on his own solo projects, among them Journal Intime brass trio, is a member of the French National Jazz Orchestra. The musician has collaborated with Emmanuel Bex, André Minvielle, Rémi Sciuto, Vincent Peirani, Antonin Rayon, Jacques Higelin, Charles Aznavour, Winston MacAnuff , Calypso Rose, Rodolphe Burger, Camille Bazbaz, Eric Lareine, among many others. His instruments can be heard on five CDs. |
