Rūta Švipaitė Quartet (Lithuania):
Rūta Švipaitė – voc;
Rūta Švipaitė (b. 1985) studies the jazz vocal at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. She is also a composer and arranger.
She has earned prizes in jazz vocalists’ competitions “Jazz Voices” (2006) and “Sing up” (2006), and received “the Best Voice” nomination in “Džiazo fontanas” (2007). In the latter competition her group “QU5” became a winner. Rūta is the group’s vocalist and composer.
The singer has collaborated with “Happy”, gospel choir “Sounds in G”, “Swing Big Band”, “Ruta Jazz Trio”, appeared in Vilnius Jazz, Birštonas Jazz and Chistopher Summer festivals.
In Vilnius Jazz Young Power, Rūta Švipaitė Quartet presents her composition “Play On Words”.
Vytis Smolskas got interested in jazz and improvisation while still at the M.K. Čiurlionis National School of Arts. He studied the jazz piano with associate Professor Artūras Anusauskas and the classical piano with Petras Geniušas at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
In 2004, Vytis got involved in electronic music and started playing keyboards in and composing for “Pieno lazeriai”. Last year, he started collaborating with jazz vocalist Baiba Skurstenė’s Quartet.
Currently, he studies the jazz piano at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
Julius Valančiauskas started playing the bass guitar in 2002. He is equally at home in jazz and rock realms. The musician collaborated with “Magic Mushrooms”, “Pieno lazeriai”, “Mustardseed”, “IR”, “2Good”, “Black Mind Zone”, “Saulės kliošas”, “The Faces”, “Boyz meet Jamiroquai” and “Uvo 117” among other projects. He was the prize winner in “Eurorock”, “Brodvėjaus žvaigždė” and “Džiazo fontanas” competitions.
Mantas Augustaitis studied the percussion with Arvydas Joffė at the J. Gruodis Conservatoire in Kaunas. He furthered his education at the Vilnius College and currently studies at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
He is a member of “Magic Mushrooms”, “Pieno lazeriai” and “In Search”, collaborates in various other projects.
