Valentina Jaronskaja Quartet (Lithuania):
Valentina Jaronskaja – p; ![]() Valentina Jaronskaja (b. 1986) studied the piano at the Vilnius J.Tallat-Kelpša Conservatoire and currently continues piano studies under associate Professor Artūras Anusauskas at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. Valentina is not only pianist but also song composer and performer. Since 2003, she has successfully participated in different vocal competitions. V. Jaronskaja earned Grand Prix and a prize for the best song at the Young Performers’ Competition “Undinėlių daina” in Zarasai, and became a laureate in “Brodvėjaus žvaigždė” and “Sing up” competitions. She has collaborated with “Swing Big Band”, Rūta Švipaitė Jazz Trio, performed in Norway with local musicians. Last year V. Jaronskaja appeared in Vilnius Jazz Young Power competition with QU5, which received “the Most Original Participant” nomination. As a member of this group V. Jaronskaja performed in Vilnius Jazz, Chistopher Summer and Birštonas Jazz festivals, and became a laureate in young jazz performers’ competition “Džiazo fontanas” in Panevėžys. In this year’s Vilnius Jazz Young Power Valentina Jaronsakaja presents her own Quartet in her composition “That’s How It Is”. Leonardas Bėkša studied the trumpet at the Gymnasium of Arts in Klaipėda, and currently studies trumpet at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. Leonardas has earned recognition as a skilful interpreter of traditional jazz and virtuoso keyboardist. Last year he was hailed the discovery of Vilnius Jazz Young Power competition, and this year a jazz standard in a performance of “Leonardas’ Standard Trio” was named the highlight of the competition. All the members of L. Bėkša Trio play in V. Jaraonskaja Quartet. Maksimas Perepelica studied the bass guitar at the Klaipėda University, and currently studies the double bass at the Lithuanian Academy of Music Theatre. He is becoming active in Lithuanian jazz scene. Dovilė Vaštakaitė graduated from the Vilnius J.Tallat-Kelpša Conservatoire and currently studies the drums at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
